Mary and Sam are a unique couple in many ways. Let me tell you what I mean.
First and foremost, Mary is my oldest best friend and that made this engagement shoot special from the very start. Secondly, Mary and Sam are bold. They were dedicated to our sunrise timing for the photoshoot even though that meant meeting at 6AM on a Sunday. And, they were even willing to traipse out into the muddy, squishy marsh at the Maine Audubon at Gilsland Farm (the Audubon was a fitting start to the shoot for these avid birders). Third, they’re quirky. For the first half of the shoot, they rocked memorable tops with Mary in a mushroom print turtleneck and Sam in a notch-collar shirt. Fourth, they’re silly as heck. Some of their photo ideas included jumping together with deadpan faces, pretending to be predator and prey in a chase, pretending to spot each other in the wild. At one point when we were in downtown Portland (where the couple loves to explore), Mary unexpectedly but purposefully bit Sam’s finger and we all lost it laughing.
It was a total treat to work with a couple who lets their personalities really shine. You might think it was because of our close bond that they could be so open and free, but I really don’t think that was it. These two are just completely themselves wherever they go, whether they are with best friends, family, or strangers they just met.

Congrats to my two favorite silly geese, Mary and Sam!
