Rena & Harunobu // Boston Elopement

It’s not that often that I get to say I had a meet cute with one of my couples. I was photographing wedding portraits along the Charles River when I bumped into Rena and Harunobu who inquired about a portrait session. I gave them my card, and that was that - we got in touch and made a plan to capture some portraits around Boston celebrating their recent marriage at Town Hall.

These two have quite the international love story. Though originally both from Japan, they met in Singapore, and their journey together eventually brought them to beautiful Boston for Harunobu’s work. They enjoy all of the green space the city has to offer and regularly go out to explore togther. Since they tied the knot in a civil ceremony, Rena and Harunobu wanted to commemorate their union with some photos together around their new city.

When I saw them at the start of the shoot, I was blown away - this couple really put out all the stops to make these photographs gorgeous! Rena had gotten her hair and makeup done, was wearing a super chic but simple wedding gown, and Harunobu donned a sleek black suit. They’d even gotten a bouquet for Rena from Beacon Hill’s own Rouvalis Flowers and Gardens.

Over the course of our afternoon together, we made our way around nearly every bit of iconic Boston scenery: we traversed the classic brick cityscapes of Beacon Hill, wandered among the draping willows in the Boston Public Garden, explored the Boston Public Library, took a pit stop at Tatte, and capped it all off at Fan Pier Park in the Seaport.

Through it all, Harunobu and Rena somehow exuded so much glamour while also being totally cute together - they were constantly giggling and laughing, clearly so full of joy. Having such lovely clients really made the time fly by - before I knew it, the sun was setting and it was time to say goodbye.

Later, these two traveled back to Japan for a formal wedding to celebrate their new life together with family and friends at the Oharai Shrine. Congratulations Rena and Harunobu!
