Kristin & Holli // Mountaintop Wedding, VA

There’s nothing more quintessential southwestern Virginia than mountain views, and Kristin and Holli’s wedding was full of them. Their venue, Silver Hearth Lodge, sits atop Bent Mountain and looks out across the Roanoke valley. Tucked away in the woods at the top of a mountain, these two tied the knot on a cool autumn day.

As a police officer, Kristin’s usual daily getup includes a uniform and minimal hair and makeup. But on her wedding day, she decided to embrace the bridal glamour and don a beautiful lace dress and have her hair and makeup done. It was so fun to see her embrace a different side of herself on such a special day. Her mom and her sister were by her side right up until the moment she walked down the aisle.

Holli prepared for the ceremony with her best friends and parents. Her classy suit and colorful bowtie showed off her fun, warm personality. One of my favorite moments was seeing how excited Holli was to see Kristen during the first look. Her face totally revealed her anticipation and happiness! Both of these brides have piercing blue eyes that really stood out as we wandered the mountainside.

After some couples portraits, these two got to say their vows in front of their closest family and friends. They had some adorable favors for guests, including ribbon wands to wave at the end of the ceremony and fleece blankets to use in case they got chilly. They stood under an awning with the mountain scenery as a lovely backdrop.

The reception was a true reflection of Kristin and Holli’s style: laid back and fun. After a first dance, there was dinner, toasts, and of course - dessert! Guests gravitated to both the dance floor and the fire pit where a smores station was ready. Congratulations ladies!
